  16. What's in the distribution?
  17. =======================================================================
  18. This distribution contains 2D, Direct Draw and Direct3D dirvers for 
  19. Voodoo Rush boards with the Alliance AT25 (AT3D) chipset. The 
  20. DirectDraw portion of the drivers supports Direct3D when using 
  21. DirectX 5.0.

  30. - Windows 95
  31. - PC with a Pentium or Pentium Pro Processor and a free PCI slot
  32. - 16MB of RAM
  33. - DirectX 5.0

  35. Upgrade Existing AT25/Voodoo Rush Drivers
  36. -----------------------------------------

  38. 1) Start Windows 95
  39. 2) Extract the files for the AT25/Voodoo Rush driver to a directory.
  40. 3) Click Start, Contol Panel.  Double-click on Display.
  41. 4) Click the settings tab
  42. 5) Click Change Display Type
  43. 6) Under Adapter Type, Click Change
  44. 7) Click Have Disk
  45. 8) You will be prompted as follows:

  47.      Windows 95 Standard Release users: Enter the path to the extracted drivers
  48.  
  49.               Windows 95 OEM SR2 users: Click the Next Button, no updated
  50.                     drivers will be found.   Click on
  51.                     "Other Location" then enter the path
  52.                     to the extracted drivers.

  54. 9) When asked to choose a device, select "Alliance 3D + Voodoo Rush"
  55. 10) You may then be prompted to insert the Windows 95 Alliance 3D + Voodoo
  56.     Rush Driver Disk.  Enter the path to the drivers again.
  57. 11) Windows will copy the drivers.   Reboot the system when prompted
  58. 12) Install DirectX 5.0

  64. Fresh Installation 
  65. ------------------

  67. NOTE: It is suggested that the extracted drivers be copied to a
  68. floppy when executing a fresh installation.
  69.  
  70. 1) Before removing your existing 2D card switch the video driver to 
  71.    Standard VGA
  72. 2) If you have an exisiting 3Dfx Voodoo based card also remove the 
  73.    following key:
  74.     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware\CurrentControlSet\DirectDrawDrivers
  75. 3) Power off system and remove your existing 2D card and any Voodoo 
  76.    based cards
  77. 4) Install the AT25 and Voodoo Rush Combo Card in a free PCI Slot
  78. 5) Power on the system and verify that video appears during post
  79. 6) Start Windows 95
  80.  
  81.   (Once Windows 95 starts you may be notified that no video device
  82.    exists, click Cancel if this message appears)
  83.  
  84. 7) Windows 95 will detect a new VGA Compatible Display, you need to:
  85.      Windows 95 Standard Release users: Select "Use Driver from Mfr"
  86.                                         and click OK
  87.               Windows 95 OEM SR2 users: Click the Next Button on the
  88.                                         Detection Dialog Box

  90. 8) Insert this floppy in the A: drive and point the driver location to
  91.    A:\
  92. 9) You may then be prompted to insert the Windows 95 Alliance 3D+ Voodoo
  93.    Rush Driver Disk.  Again, enter A:\ and press OK.
  94. 10) Windows will copy the drivers from the Floppy, Reboot the system 
  95.     when prompted
  96. 11) After reboot, verify that Windows 95 runs.  If Windows 95 hangs, 
  97.     power the system off and verify that the Voodoo Rush Daughterboard
  98.     is installed correctly and is functioning.
  99. 12) Install DirectX 5.0.

  102. Limitations

  105. Running 640x480,16 Color will run SUPERVGA.DRV or VGA.DRV.  No Voodoo 
  106. Rush features will be used.  Switch to a different resolution or color depth.

  114. Problem: After installing the card, the system still detects my old 
  115. card even though it is no longer in the system.
